Ruby Thrift offers optional email communications for visitors who want to receive updates about our stores, donations, new finds, promotions, live shopping, community activities, and other Ruby Thrift news.
This page explains what you agree to when you choose to subscribe to Ruby Thrift marketing emails.
1. Your Consent to Receive Marketing Emails
When you subscribe to the Ruby Thrift newsletter and affirmatively agree to receive marketing communications, you authorize Ruby Thrift to send promotional and informational email messages to the email address you provide.
These communications may include:
- store news and updates;
- new thrift finds and featured merchandise;
- donation information;
- sales, discounts, coupons, and promotions;
- live-shopping announcements;
- community programs and events;
- new blog content;
- special campaigns or seasonal announcements;
- other Ruby Thrift news and marketing communications.
Subscribing is optional.
You are not required to subscribe to marketing emails in order to browse the Ruby Thrift website.
2. Information Collected During Signup
When you subscribe, Ruby Thrift may collect information such as:
- your email address;
- your name, if you provide it;
- your consent to receive marketing communications;
- the date and time of signup;
- information about where the signup occurred;
- technical information associated with the submission.
This information is used to manage your subscription, maintain consent records, send communications, protect the signup process, and improve our marketing efforts.
When a qualifying newsletter signup is measured as an advertising conversion, Ruby Thrift may also use the email address you provide for advertising measurement through services such as Google Ads Enhanced Conversions and Meta Advanced Matching.
These technologies help advertising platforms associate a confirmed newsletter signup with prior advertising interactions and improve conversion attribution and measurement.
Ruby Thrift currently provides qualifying newsletter conversion information only after the website confirms that a genuinely new newsletter subscription has succeeded.
3. Google Ads Enhanced Conversions
Ruby Thrift uses Google Ads Enhanced Conversions for qualifying newsletter signups.
When this feature is used, the email address you provide may be supplied through Google's supported Google tag implementation for advertising measurement.
User-provided data used for Enhanced Conversions is normalized and hashed through Google's supported implementation before or as part of Google's processing for matching.
Ruby Thrift uses this information to help measure whether Google advertising contributed to a confirmed newsletter signup.
Ruby Thrift does not intentionally include newsletter subscriber email addresses in its custom Google Analytics events.
4. Meta Advanced Matching and Conversions API
Ruby Thrift uses Meta Business Tools, including the Meta Pixel, Meta Advanced Matching, and the Meta Conversions API, to measure qualifying newsletter signups associated with Facebook and Instagram advertising.
When a confirmed new newsletter signup occurs, Ruby Thrift may provide information such as:
- the email address submitted during signup;
- browser and device information;
- IP address;
- user-agent information;
- Meta browser identifiers when available;
- the website URL associated with the signup;
- a unique event identifier used for conversion measurement and deduplication.
For Meta Advanced Matching, Ruby Thrift uses the email address associated with a confirmed newsletter signup in a controlled manner rather than relying on broad automatic website matching.
The Meta Conversions API may also send the confirmed newsletter Lead event directly from Ruby Thrift's server to Meta.
Ruby Thrift may report the same confirmed newsletter signup through both the browser-based Meta Pixel and the server-based Meta Conversions API. When this occurs, Ruby Thrift uses a shared event identifier so Meta can recognize both reports as the same underlying signup rather than counting them as two separate conversions.
Customer identifiers such as email may be normalized and hashed for matching before or as part of processing by Meta.
Ruby Thrift uses these technologies for advertising measurement, attribution, and related advertising functions where permitted.
5. Advertising Audiences and Exclusions
Ruby Thrift may use confirmed newsletter-signup activity to create or use advertising audiences where permitted.
For example, a person who successfully subscribes to the Ruby Thrift newsletter may be included in a Meta website Custom Audience based on the confirmed Lead event.
Ruby Thrift may use these audiences to:
- measure advertising performance;
- remarket appropriate Ruby Thrift content;
- tailor advertising based on prior interactions;
- exclude existing newsletter subscribers from advertising campaigns whose purpose is to acquire new newsletter subscribers.
Audience availability and use depend on the applicable advertising platform's policies, eligibility requirements, retention periods, and minimum audience-size requirements.
6. Email Service Provider
Ruby Thrift currently uses Brevo to help manage newsletter subscriptions and send email communications.
Information necessary to provide newsletter services may be processed by Brevo on Ruby Thrift's behalf.
Brevo may process information in accordance with its own applicable terms and privacy practices.
7. Frequency of Emails
The frequency of Ruby Thrift marketing emails may vary.
You may receive communications when we have relevant updates, promotions, store news, events, new content, or other information we believe may be useful to subscribers.
Ruby Thrift does not guarantee a specific email schedule.
8. Unsubscribing
You may withdraw your consent to receive promotional marketing emails at any time.
The easiest way to unsubscribe is to use the unsubscribe link included in Ruby Thrift marketing emails.
You may also contact Ruby Thrift at:
After an unsubscribe request is processed, Ruby Thrift will stop sending promotional marketing emails to that address as required by applicable law.
It may take a short period of time for an unsubscribe request to fully process.
9. Service and Transactional Communications
Unsubscribing from marketing communications does not necessarily prevent Ruby Thrift from sending non-promotional messages when they are reasonably necessary.
For example, Ruby Thrift may still contact you regarding:
- a request or inquiry you submitted;
- an issue involving your subscription preferences;
- security or fraud concerns;
- legally required notices;
- other service-related communications that are not promotional marketing.
10. Keeping Your Information Accurate
You are responsible for providing an email address that you are authorized to use.
If your email address changes, you may need to unsubscribe the old address and subscribe using the new address.
11. No Purchase Required
No purchase or donation is required to subscribe to Ruby Thrift marketing emails.
Consent to receive marketing emails is not a condition of purchasing goods or using the general Ruby Thrift website.
12. Protecting the Signup Process
Ruby Thrift may use technical measures to protect newsletter signup forms from spam, bots, fraud, and abuse.
These measures may involve automated security services and the collection of limited technical information needed to evaluate whether a submission is legitimate.
For example, Ruby Thrift may use services such as Cloudflare Turnstile to help protect website forms.
13. Advertising Measurement and Consent
Ruby Thrift may use newsletter signup information for advertising measurement where permitted by applicable law.
Where applicable law requires consent for the use or sharing of information with advertising or measurement providers, Ruby Thrift will seek to obtain or honor that consent as required.
Advertising measurement technologies are described in greater detail in Ruby Thrift's Privacy Policy and Cookie & Tracking Technologies Policy.
14. Changes to Email Marketing Practices
Ruby Thrift may update its email-marketing practices or this Email Marketing Consent notice from time to time.
If changes materially affect how we use subscriber information or obtain consent, we may update this page or provide additional notice where appropriate.
The effective date at the top of this page reflects the current version.
15. Privacy
Ruby Thrift's handling of personal information associated with newsletter subscriptions is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy explains in more detail how information may be collected, used, shared, retained, and protected.
